The Service I Offer To You

You might be considering counselling because you often feel anxious, depressed or angry without knowing why; or you find yourself repeating behaviours which you know are unhelpful, but don't feel able to change. Perhaps a bereavement or a difficult relationship has left you with feelings you don't know how to resolve. Others who seek therapy aren't experiencing specific difficulties, but feel unsatisfied or unable to find fulfilment in their work or relationships, when outwardly things seem to be going quite well.

It can be hard to know who to talk to about such things without embarrassment or shame, and to give them the attention they warrant. Meeting with a counsellor offers a confidential space where whatever you're experiencing can be expressed and thought about safely.

As well as helping to lessen difficulties such as stress, anxiety, depression or relationship issues, counselling helps to uncover our own particular strengths, abilities and capacity for enjoyment. It also helps us develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and the reasons underlying our current difficulties. Because of this, effective counselling helps to develop a meaningful sense of self-awareness and the capacity to live a more fulfilling life.

The way in which I work is on a one to one basis and each session lasts 50 minutes. I work in a way which is client focused, I listen without judgement or criticism. I hope this will enable your progress by helping you to arrive at solutions of your own making. You are in control of how we set the sessions and what you wish to talk about. My aim is to help you find the “real you” again and to help you move forward, at your pace, so that you can cope with whatever the future might bring.

I can offer you a space that is support, safe, confidential and free of judgement. Our first consultation session will be spent discussing what you hope to get from your counselling experience; what your aims and goals are. We will also use it as an opportunity to get to know each other, as having a good rapport and feeling comfortable is essential for therapeutic success.
